What They are Really Purchasing
During my time as a marketing executive for a film studio, I’ve come to learn that what consumers purchase may not be as simple as a movie ticket to see the newest release, it’s much deeper and more complex and beautiful than that. I’ll quickly summarize what you and every other professional movie-goer is really buying into.
Essentially, the studio and movie theater chains they have partnered with are offering something that I and many others like to call the “movie theater experience.” Yes, you are paying to go see the movie that caught your attention and was something you deemed worth spending your money for. But, it’s not just the movie. It’s walking up to the movie theater to scan your tickets. It’s waiting in line to purchase popcorn, soft drinks, and much more. Depending on the movie theater chain and format you’ve selected, you’ll enjoy recliner seats in an IMAX theater, the biggest screen imaginable.
On the surface, money is simply being exchanged for a ticket to see a movie at a local theater. But, it is so much more than that. The reason we even still have movie theaters to this day is because they give us something we can’t normally enjoy at home, the “movie theater experience.”
Thank you for taking the time to read about something that is very important in the entertainment industry!
